Kate and Ali celebrated their modern NYC wedding at the historic Yale Club of New York City – a classic Manhattan wedding venue known for its grand architecture, Main Lounge with sweeping Midtown views, and deep family ties for Kate’s side. Wanting a modern NYC wedding that reflected them as a queer couple, they chose Pride weekend to celebrate, and even added subtle rainbow accents to their reception shoes to honor the occasion. Their vision of “sophisticated whimsy” came to life through vibrant wildflowers and colorful details set against the Yale Club’s elegant cream and gold backdrop.
They welcomed guests to the wedding weekend with a sunset sail from Chelsea Piers, offering spectacular views of the Manhattan skyline and Statue of Liberty – the perfect way to kick off a New York City wedding. On the big day, Kate and Ali got their dresses together at Kleinfeld Bridal to ensure their gowns complemented each other: Kate wore a classic off-the-shoulder Sareh Nouri gown with satin buttons, while Ali chose a Martina Liana dress with beaded floral appliqués and an organza overskirt for extra flair during the ceremony. A matching pearl-scattered veil and overflowing bouquets tied both bridal looks together beautifully.
During cocktail hour, guests enjoyed signature drinks named for each bride – “Empire Kate of Mind” and “Simone in the City” – alongside lobster rolls, mini franks, and a sprawling raw bar displayed in a boat. The Yale Club’s Main Lounge was transformed into a floral oasis with runners of wildflowers on rectangular tables, overflowing centerpieces on round tables, and hand-lettered oyster shells as place cards. Stations around the room offered fresh pasta, Mediterranean salads, and fun classic NYC deli desserts like black and white cookies and ice cream sundaes.
The four-tier wedding cake featured cascading multicolored sugar petals and playful flavors like funfetti with passion fruit filling and chocolate cake with espresso. Under the chandeliers of this classic Manhattan venue, Kate and Ali danced the night away surrounded by friends, family, and all the joy of a queer celebration at the Yale Club.
