Shea and Buck met as students at Hamilton College at the most romantic place ever: a flip cup table at a frat party! Shea knew from the moment she met Buck that they were kindred souls / long lost best friends. Cheesy, but true! They live in Southie with their french bulldog Winnie, and big red lab Tucker. You can catch them on the weekends walking the dogs at Castle Island, biking, playing tennis, running the Esplanade, and grabbing chicken parm and gnocchi in the North End. They balance feeling old but being young by waking up early to read the newspaper with coffee AND going out to breweries with friends
Shea and Buck’s families both have homes on Martha’s Vineyard, and it is such a special place for them. They knew they wanted an island wedding complete with sand, sea, lighthouses, allll the good stuff.
Shea and Buck originally planned a 200+ guest wedding at the Edgartown Lighthouse followed by a reception at the Edgartown Yacht Club, but made the incredibly difficult decision to downsize their wedding and start over from square one – new venue, new ~40 person guest list, new DAY! June rolled around and it was finally time to get married after quite the wild year, and it couldn’t have been any more perfect.
Shea got ready with her honorary bridesmaids, mom and future mom-in-law, and miss Winnie at a beautiful historic home in Downtown Edgartown. They managed to keep their favorite lighthouse in the wedding day plans and had their first look at the beautiful Edgartown Lighthouse! It was just Shea, Buck, the sunshine, and sand. They shuttled off to the ceremony at Crackatuxet Beach, a quiet and private beach next to South Beach in Edgartown. The waves were gigantic! Winnie and Tucker walked down the aisle followed by Shea and her mom, as her dad was the officiant (who, fun fact, wore the suit he wore on his wedding day 35 years ago right down to the dried boutonnière!) Family members watched over FaceTime and Zoom, they listened to poem readings, said their vows, and sealed the deal with a huge KISS!
After the ceremony, cocktail hour was just over the dunes, lobster rolls and signature drinks were served, and guests mingled and enjoyed the ocean breeze before grabbing customized oyster escort cards and finding their seats. The toasts were heartfelt and hilarious, the dance floor was JUMPIN’, and the night ended with a little sprinkle of rain for good luck.
Update: Their beautiful cake was featured in the Summer 2022 print edition of MV Island Weddings!
