INGREDIENTS
-
16oz frozen potstickers, any flavor – pork, chicken, shrimp, veggie
-
1/2 cup teriyaki marinade, any brand (I use Hannaford’s)
-
1/4 cup soy sauce
-
3 tbsp sesame oil
-
2 tbsp minced garlic
-
2 tbsp rice wine vinegar
-
2 tbsp hoisin sauce
-
1/4 cup brown sugar, or to taste
-
1/2 cup scallions, divided
-
Toasted sesame seeds to garnish
INSTRUCTIONS
1) Bring water to a boil in a large skillet, boil potstickers until cooked through to 165 degrees
2) Drain potstickers in sink, let sit in strainer until step 4
3) In the same skillet, combine teriyaki marinade, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, rice wine vinegar, hoisin sauce, and brown sugar. Stir until completely mixed together
4) Add potstickers back into pan and stir, then add half the scallions to the pan
5) Taste the sauce – it should be dark, thick, and sweet with prominent sesame and onion flavor. Adjust the brown sugar or add salt accordingly. There should be a fair amount of sauce in the pan, that’s a good thing! If there isn’t enough, add some more teriyaki marinade
6) Turn off heat and transfer to bowls. Add remaining fresh scallions and finish with toasted sesame seeds. Enjoy!
TIPS
-
If you don’t have hoisin sauce, just omit
-
If you don’t have rice wine vinegar, put a splash of white or balsamic vinegar instead
-
I usually make this with two bags of dumplings – it’s pretty much the same recipe with just a little more teriyaki marinade and brown sugar
-
Everything else is a must-have ingredient – especially the scallions and sesame oil!
