A black tie museum wedding at the ICA in Boston, MA

Alexis and Jamie = partners in crime forever! They met in North Carolina while studying business at Duke University together. Alexis was drawn to Jamie’s quick wit and great hair while Jamie was a fan of Alexis’s impeccable classroom fashion sense and public speaking skills. They became fast friends. By the time spring rolled around, things were heating up – but no one would make the first move. That was, until, their friend Alex finally set them up. FYI, he now proudly refers to the pair as his “greatest creation.” Alexis and Jamie love everything to do with wine, so exploring new cities and countries through wine is their favorite way to do it. They’re total water babies – they love being anywhere near water, going to the beach, and smelling the ocean air. So – the Institute of Contemporary Art in Seaport, Boston was the perfect place for a wedding. They planned the whole event from Colorado where they lived, and loved that the venue was right on the Boston Harbor.

On the most perfect 70 degree Boston day, with a touch of crisp fall air in the breeze, Alexis and Jamie’s big day was finally here. They got ready at the Envoy Hotel, where the girls enjoyed champagne and a visit from the fluffiest golden retriever, and the guys sipped bourbon and helped each other tie their bow ties. They had their first look on the Harborwalk with the skyline sparkling in the background, walked to the museum, and took their family + wedding party photos on the steps of the ICA. Alexis’s sister Whitney officiated the ceremony, and they sealed the deal with a kiss and ran off into the galleries! The highlight of Jamie’s night was the cocktail hour – passed apps are his jam. All the guests watched the sky turn from blue to purple from the deck as the Seaport lights turned on and the city glistened on the water. A bunny even hopped by! In the middle of the city! Guests enjoyed dinner and toasts in the projection room, then danced the night away to a nine piece live band downstairs in the main lobby.

UPDATE: Don’t miss this wedding published in The Knot New England print magazine!
