The Secret to Better Getting Ready Photos

The easiest way to elevate your getting ready photos? Keep the room tidy!

You’re probably getting ready somewhere beautiful – a hotel suite, a historic venue, your childhood home. The goal is to actually see that space in your photos, not work around a sea of water bottles, tote bags, and phone chargers.

Before I arrive, do a quick sweep. Stash duffel bags and purses in the bathroom or a separate room. Move water bottles to the floor or a designated corner out of frame. Clear surfaces of anything that doesn’t belong. Champagne glasses, bottles, and gifts are always welcome to stay. Alternatively, some couples opt to get ready in a separate room from hair & makeup that stays clean and empty.

It takes ten minutes and makes an enormous difference. Clean backgrounds let the location, the details, and the people in the room take center stage, which is exactly where they should be!
